You bring up a good point, rlaqhdus, one about which I have been wondering, too. I would say no, but if they both use the Common Application for Early Action, then I'm not sure.

The Kenyon application flat out asks to which other schools one is applying; this sparked a similar question.

You DO mean Early Action, right? It is impossible to do Early Decision to two schools; if you got into both, it would be a breach of contract, and although I am unsure of the specific consequences, I can assure you that they would be very grave.

Rlaqhdus, I'm not sure why you're worried about this situation. Both schools, Caltech and MIT, have a non-restrictive early action - this means you can apply to both of them early with no problems.

As for knowing whether you did the other, well... if a Caltech admissions officer likes to get on the phone with people at MIT and discuss who applied where, then that's their business. But it shouldn't affect you in any way.

Kingkouture, MIT has its own application, while Caltech uses the common application along with a supplement.

Thanks for the replies.
@kingkouture: yes, i meant early action
@elliott_j: I know that I can apply both schools for early action..but i've been hearing this stuff that if i apply to both under early action (given that both colleges know that I applied to both of them early), then it could put me on disadvantage...

again thanks for comments

any other thought?
