in the end.. it's still up to the students themselves..if those from the disadvantaged backgrounds are serious enough to check things out.. they'll eventually apply ed..just as you said.. counselors are just there to get your documents together.. they cant help you decide ed

^ Counselors can play a REALLY important part. If the counselor has important contacts it might influence your admission decision.

i didnt say they are useless.. just that the students should take the initiative.. and i just quoted what aktiv8d said

Really, Ajay? So we are at a disadvantage?

Not really angelutza. International Counselors wont matter.

Oops Ajay, you posted from the wrong ID ;)

@aktiv8d: It's so nice to see someone quote my posts lol :)

jhl, i don't think you got the point that i was trying to make. i am not saying that everyone who applies ED is from an advantaged background. i definitely agree that a sincere and motivated student can apply early no matter what their background is. what i mentioned was that the majority of the other early applicants will probably have come from an advantaged background. with regards to counselors, plenty of good students, especially internationals, often don't completely understand the early application process. a counselor doesn't need to choose schools for them but he or she can and should definitely go out and inform them about all the options they have. a good counselor would have got the message across and these kids could have applied early.

how did this thread get into such a discussion about internationals applying early....lol

neways back to the original topic....
i applied ED to cornell CALS then CAS(primary/alternate)

aktiv8d, I don't think our argument can get anywhere.. it's pointless anyway..
