Hey guys, first hope here on this wonderful website, I've seen you guys all being so helpful and now I have a pretty tough choice here in front of me.
Okay, so I am a student from Austria and study the IB program, my school doesn't rank but i have maybe a 42,43 predicted. 2110 on SAT but I'll do them again in Oct,
I have very good ECs, am a national president of an organization of 1000+ members, and have had internship abroad.
Should I apply for Stanford SCEA?! I've also been playing the violin, however I haven't recorded anything yet, I'm thinking of sending an art supplement along with my application and I def will request financial aid. I'm just debating that since Stanford is need based for international, will I just get defered directly?
Thanks,
R.

Yale’s the one that’s big on SCEA deferrals. In the case of Stanford, more applicants get rejected than deferred. The SCEA pool is very competitive and the request for financial aid will make it all the more difficult. Good luck, though.

i’m international tho, you have any idea of the odds of EA?especially now when i want aid

Sorry for taking too long to reply.

Well, Stanford is need-blind for U.S citizens, so applying for financial aid as an American will not affect chances. It’s the fact that you’re an international that makes your odds unfavorable.

Well basically its just that they have only “a few” spots for internationals on FA. They don’t admit you if they can’t give you FA, so they have to skim even more… it should be fine as long as you manage to stand out :P

guys, thanks a lot. I think I’ll just apply regular, I need to get my music supplement ready as well =) Chances of getting in early is slim anyhow, and I’ll definitely need FA, so it feels like a 99.9% defer, or even reject.
