early college classes to take?

Im not sure if this is the correct forum to post this in, but anyway. Im a sophmore in high school and Im taking early classes at the local Allegany College of Maryland Bedford County Campus (Its just across the parking lot from my high school). Ive already taken Psychology 101 and Im currently taking English 101. What classes do you recomend taking over the summer and years to come? Im most likely going for a biology major, then to medical school. I would like to get a year ahead in college before I finish high school. Sorry this became a long post. Let me know what classes you think would be best for me to take. Thanks.

Man, why do you want to graduate early? College years are supposed to be the best of your life. You’re in an academic and social paradise (depending on where you go) for four full years on average (some like me will spend many many years in academia…). Real life is **** compared to college life; trust me, you want to enjoy it.

Depends on your goals. If you’re looking to make the premed requirements easy, taking general chemistry, organic chemistry, and the biology requirements would be smart. If you’re planning on applying to elite schools, it would be best to find an area you love immediately and take as many tough classes as possible in that area (and if it’s a science conduct research, too) all the way up to the graduate level, if possible. If you just want to have fun, take random intro classes that seem interesting - anthropology and art history always sounded fascinating to me.

intro courses. intro to bio, intro to chem, stuff like that. unless you plan on taking AP Bio/Chem which would waive those requirements

Alright. Thanks guys. Ill take that under advisement while scheduling summer classes.

I took Calc 2, Linear Algebra, Calc 3, Intro Philosophy, Intro Bio, Intro Chem, will be taking Theater.

Philosophy has been my favorite. Take it!

It depends on what you are trying to do. If you’re planning on transferring from community college you probably want to take a look at transfer requirements and start taking the general education courses that are transferable so that you spend less time at community college/transfer sooner. I did something similar to this but, I still wish I had known to do that in high school so that I spent less time at community college :/.

If you’re just looking to get a background/foundation/more information on your major, you might just want to take the classes that interest you. Transferable classes preferably though so that you get those credits when you go to a four year university. It saves you money and time :).

Sorry I just read in your post that you want to get a year ahead. You should definitely do general ed courses. Think of it this way: you need 60 credits to transfer (two years at community college), If you’re on the semester system and you take 10 units per semester including summers starting this summer and going all the way the spring of your senior year you will have amassed 60 units which = two years of college and junior standing when you go to college full time after high school. Just saved you a zillion dollars and shaved two years of you schooling which is a lot considering you plan on going to medical school.

Sorry if this was confusing… I hope I helped a little bit…
