I have a question about applying - I am applying early decision to NYU. If I place Shanghai first as my desired campus, and New York City second, but I get rejected to Shanghai, will I be considered to NYU New York right then?

Yes! You are considered for all the campuses that you applied to, and a decision is made on each, separately from any other campus.

Essentially, decisions are made without any knowledge of your other campuses decisions.

So what happens when you apply ED (this is how it worked for me) you will hear back on the notification date from the school that accepted you highest on your list of preferences. So if Shanghai is your number 1, but they reject you and New York is your number 2 and they accept you, you will just hear back from New York saying you were accepted. If you are accepted from Shanghai and that is your number 1, you will just hear back saying Shanghai accepted you (you dont receive info about the schools that potentially accepted/rejected you lower on your list)

So long answer short- yes, you are considered for New York right there and will hear back on the same day as you normally would when applying ED.

Thank you so much for your response - I was wondering, if I were to apply ED with Shanghai as #1 and NYC as #2…

Do you know how, and whether or not, putting Shanghai as my first choice might affect my chances of getting accepted to the NYC campus?
