Is the financial aid offered at UPenn significantly lower when you apply early? And how hard would it be to appeal for a higher package if you were to be accepted ED?

I was admitted ED and I was unsatisfied with my package so i appealed. The reevaluation didn't help much, as my efc stayed the same. You don't have a lot of leverage in getting more money if you are accepted ED. I don't know if it's aid is significantly lower for early acceptees, however, on this forum, I saw what RD acceptees claimed as their aid and for the most part, the packages are more generous. However, the ones I saw were only a few out of the many others who received aid.

but isn't the finaid supposed to be separate from undergrad admissions? meaning that the two decisions don't interfere with each other?

I was deciding on this about a year ago too. I think the bottom line is that if you cannot commit financially, you probably shouldn't do early since its tough to back out of your binding agreement. I know that there is some financial clause that lets you back-out but I'm not sure on what conditions.
