Early Decision App Choice

I really need an answer on this. I'm doing early decision to UPenn SEAS. Does it matter what application I use? I'm leaning towards the CommonApp because it gives me more opportunities to express myself and it'll show that I spent more time on the application, but one of my teachers and friends are saying that I should use the Penn app because it'll show that I took the time out to fill out another app, which I find is absurd because it would only take 5 to 10 minutes.

Plus, my teachers already sent out my CommonApp rec forms. We can't mix and match, can we?

Do you honestly believe this is how they view applicants?

"All applicants who did the Penn App are spending more time on this school. Add one point to them."

To me, any sort of generalization about the two apps seems ridiculous. Do whichever you feel more comfortable doing. It really makes very little difference.

Ok, well then I'm just going to do what I want to do. I'll probably just stick witht he CommonApp.

It would be different if you were not applying ED; then I would recommend using Penn's application. But, since you are doing ED they already know the commitment to the school that you have.

You can mix and match. I already asked, because I intended to do the Common App, but now I'm using the Penn App. My teachers have already sent their Common App recs.

Is it really that convenient? How did you find out?

I asked my regional person when she was at my school.

See, if you go and search this forum, right, you'll find that people were told not to mix and match.

Why does it matter if you mix and match? It's the same form anyway. And she said it wouldn't make a difference because they are the same. Then again, that's just my opinion.

You don't want people to be confused.
