Did anyone else receive a “Financial Aid at Reed College” flyer? I got one in the mail a couple of days ago. It seems like a good indicator to get one this late in the admissions process, but I don’t want to get my hopes up – it’s very brief and seems like something that would be sent to all applicants.

Yeah, I also got the flyer recently, @cn7528 .

Got one too but about a week or so ago.

I got that flyer as well as a letter from them with a polaroid of me on campus when I visited.

I’m honestly so anxious about this. I’m hoping so hard that I get accepted, but if there’s anything I don’t want, it’s to get deferred. I had my counselor send in first quarter grades to avoid that, so they already have some idea of what my semester grades will be (they’ll likely only go up from what my 1st Q grades were), but OMG if they defer me I’m going to literally cry.
I hope the email, regardless of result, comes after I get home. It’s going to be impossible to keep myself from checking my phone all day, especially since I have to stay even longer than usually because of Key Club.

@lganser Dang. You’re in.

@codexsplanade We are totally on the same boat, trust me. I submitted a 3.6 unweighted and a 1850 SAT, and I am clinging to my interview, essays and recs. I want to go to this school more than anything. And I’m terrified of being waitlisted also; I hear kids who are waitlisted won’t get any aid, and that basically means I won’t be able to attend because there’s no way my family could afford Reed without major aid. I’m horrified about tomorrow.

Group atheistic prayer

That made me want to laugh and cry hysterically and simultaneously. Thank you. I needed that.

I keep telling myself that it will be okay… I hope so, at least.

Off a tangent: does anyone know whether Reed is need-blind/need-aware? For domestic students at least.

@evelynne1996 Everything is already okay. Everything will remain okay regardless of any college’s decision.

@anthroprospie Reed is need-aware with all its students. Though not stated, I would assume more so with domestics simply because they’d want to attract more internationals.

Today

I’m just hoping that not requiring FA will boost my application!
Anxiously waiting for ED decisions.

So, how’s the time difference with Portland for you guys? For me it’s like 5 hours -.-

I don’t think anyone can beat my 17 hours…

Me 15 hours

I was singing One Day More from Les Miserables all day yesterday. I’m so nervous; I can’t help checking my email every 10 minutes.

I live in Texas, so my difference is minimal. I’ve been reading through previous Reed ED forums on here and it seems pretty common for Reed to release decisions late in the day (the American day, I mean, for those of you with larger time differences) and I’ve even read of some cases where kids got their notification the evening of the following day.

Same, I’m in Colorado so I’m only an hour ahead.

I hope it does get released in the late afternoon or evening. I want to be settled at home so I am able to deal with any result I get from them.

Guess I freaked out way too soon. Now I’m torn between going to bed and staying up late to wait for their email.
