sux a lot for cali applicants: over 300 from cali alone...damn...

cali folks need to get a Stanford admission and then post in on eBay to trade for a Penn admission.

hahaha, now why didn't i think of that? thanx for the idea hazmat lol

a lot happened while i was gone....

yeah, talk about bad news.........

26e- we all got reality checks while u were gone.

care to sum up?

the thread title basically says it all. the chance that we get rejected is higher than we thought it would be.

wait, so does Penn have more ED applicants than EA applicants for Harvard?

unfortunatley, yes

Anyone have ED statistics for the individual schools? I'd be curious about the projected admission rates for each school..

I know Wharton admits total of around 700 every year for both early and regular, so you can estimate.

Penn likely does have plans to expand their engineering program, as they're building a GORGEOUS new building and just acquired more land ver near the engineering side of campus. (I live in Hill, so the construction wakes me up on weekends =( )

i think this is the link that gives ind. stats for each school

Posting this because that link will change with the next issue of the newspaper.

Year - Number of ED Applicants
2001 - 3,056
2002 - 3,390
2003 - 3,343
2004 - 3,420
2005 - 4,148

Early decsion applicants by School:

College 2004 - 2,141
College 2005 - 2,479
Increase - 16%

Wharton 2004 - 861
Wharton 2005 - 1,083
Increase - 26%

Engineering 2004 - 341
Engineering 2005 - 484
Increase - 42%

Nursing 2004 - 77
Nursing 2005 - 102
Increase - 32%

Total 2004 - 3,402
Total 2005 - 4,148
Increase - 21%

"With great power comes great responsibility..."

Assuming that UPenn wants to fill half its classs ED, and the sizes of the schools do not increase, here are the projected admission rates, for those who are curious:

SEAS: ~205/484 = 41.3%
Wharton: ~250/1083 = 23.1%
Nursing: 102/??
College: 2479/??

aha... so seas, even with such a large percentage increase, is still moderate in size, and you can toss out maybe 25% as unqualified to begin with...

and those stats for warton? umm....i wouldn't consider 23.1% acceptance rate-seems a bit too high don't you think?

not when regular comes out to 6/7%? no...? rd has twice as many applicants maybe more, so the average admit rate drops to roughtly 11/12%
