Early Decision Helps?

So does early decision really give applicants a higher shot at getting accepted into Stanford? Anyone have statistics on the matter?

I would say the difference is fairly slim, from a 7% acceptance rate during Regular decision to a 13% decision rate during SCEA. People often argue that the SCEA applicant pool is even more competitive, and that in combination with Stanford’s tendency to Deffer much less than other universities…doesn’t seem to bode to well if you aren’t a particularly FANCY applicant. Statistics aside, Stanford is a diceroll for most people. Your essays will probably make or break you if you have the typical great academic record that applicants have. Do not feel at a disadvantage whichever way you apply–as a SCEA applicant this year, I’d have to say that I’m just glad I’ll know SOMETHING by next week.

Good Luck!

Yeah, the admit rate isn’t significantly higher for REA. However, applying early to any school does show your interest in that school, which helps a little. At least that’s what I tell myself :P

^^same here china

Thanks guys. Good luck
