I think Duke might be a step harder than Midd…too many applicants they won’t consider ur essays as thoroughly

For a while I struggled between Colby and Middlebury, but the two deciding factors ended up being language programs and location. You can’t beat Midd when it comes to languages, of course, and I don’t know if any of you have ever been to Waterville, Maine, but…I’ll just say that it isn’t even comparable to rural VT.

3 days, 15 hours.

can’t stop thinking about saturday…pretty sure my head has actually gotten bigger from the nonstop thoughts about rejection

Haha I actually feel like I need some people telling me that I won’t get in! I need to think about that more. There is too much positive reinforcement around me.

Oh wow guys…did you just get the email from Midd reminding us to check on Saturday…like we could have forgotten for a second!

ah i’m trying to stay negative as backwards as that sounds! don’t want to get my hopes up too much even though i already have…

and @gracieboo i know my heart almost stopped when i saw that in my email… i thought they were letting us know early :(

@gracieboo, yup I really didn’t need that email. And I have a lot of people telling me I’ll get in and a lot of people saying I have no chance of getting in hahaha. So I think I have the right balance of positive and negative reinforcement.

So it’s gotten to the point where I have to start participating. I think it was you, Gracieboo, who encouraged us observers to get involved–thanks! I know, like we ACTUALLY needed that email. But perhaps the fact that we’re laughing about how unnecessary it is means we’re taking the process too seriously. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to forget about it, then suddenly be reminded be email? But Middlebury applicants (any early applicants, for that matter) are inherently so motivated that of course we’ll remember the day, date, and time decisions become available.

So far my friends have been so successful with their early applications; would be truly heartbreaking to get rejected. I wish you all great success (not that there are varying levels of success in this situation, but you get the point…) and I hope to meet you in September!

@thebostonian: Yeah all of my friends have gotten into college, and a lot of them have gotten into some really great places, (Cornell, Dartmouth, Brown, two Columbia’s, Wash U St. Louis, Wesleyan so on and so forth…) It’s getting really stressful since its all down to me and I feel like they are all waiting for me to get in…

Not to get into a p***ing match, but in the past few years USN&WR has placed Midd ahead of Duke in its Selectivity rankings (not that it matters at this level, they’re all pretty much a crap shoot).

AAAAAHHHHHH LESS THAN 3 DAYS!!! ;alsdjf;lsfjalsfjas;ldfjk

hey guys…I hear all the time that ED 1 at Midd is a much better chance than ED 2…do you guys know if this is true, or why it is? Why do colleges, like the NESCACs offer Early Decision 2?

does anyone know how much applying ED I actually helps?

I’m not sure how much ed1 helps over ed2. But metfan, I read somewhere that about 40 less kids applied ed to midd this year for some reason, and it’s usually just under a 40% acceptance rate for ed but that includes like recruited athletes and people like that.

and it’s like 17% for regular so ed helps a lot.

So do you think the fewer number of applicants is a positive or negative for ED applicants?

I think its definitely a positive, because they are still taking the same percentage of applicants early decision according to this article I read I’ll try to find it.

and on a side note, I don’t really know what kind of music you guys are into. I kind of like all music. I’m obsessed with this song right now. Try listening to it, [William Fitzsimmons - “Everything Has Changed” - YouTube](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube)

I like it. pretty chill. it’s relaxing to listen to while anxiously waiting for this decision. ahhaha

Snowboarder please find that article! I’d love to see it. Regardless I hope you’re right that they’re keeping the same acceptance rate
