So, I told my mom, about an hour ago, that my college advisor piulled some strings and got a rep from Sarah Lawrence College (my top) to come to my school just to see me. She got all excited and wants me to apply early decision. The thing is, I am applying to 11 other selective schools, and I want to be able to have my options open when the time comes. I checked my stats, and I know I have a good chance of getting into SLC (and I will have no problem paying for it). Should I just go ahead and apply ED since my mom wants me to? Or shoulod I apply regular decision and have options?

What’s your GPA and ECs? (I ask this because the SAT is a non-factor)

It is up to you, truly the decision is something that you should decide, not your mom, or you counselor or anybody but you. Because ED is binding, that’s it, you’re done if you get in. If SLC is truly your first choice and you would pick it even if you got into all 12 schools you applied to and you are comfortable with their financial aid program then yes apply ED. If you answered no to any aspect of that don’t apply ED, don’t feel pressured to apply ED.
