early decision questions (not a post about chances)

considering applyin early from a nys school an hr away, to the college of human ecology.

my questions are: a. by november 1st the deadline, does everything have to be received at the college... including common app, supplement, transcript, counselor/teacher reccommendations, testing agency scores ? can you send certain stuff after that date (i.e. test scores)

b. what are some of the bad aspects of cornell to those already there? what don't you like and wish they changed?

c. will the stress eeeeeat me alive?
d. what should you do if you get deferred to better your chances?
e. does having a first cousin graduate from the school help at all?

thanks a bunch to anyone nice enough to respond...

a. It's fine if recs and scores get there late; heck, sending in your application a day or two late probably won't be that bad (though you shouldn't risk it).
b. For cons, search the forum.
c. So far it hasn't been to stressful here, but I've yet to take a prelim so it will probably get worse.
d. CC has an article titled Deferral and Waitlists (<a href="http://www.collegeconfidential.com/college_admissions/deferral.htm)%5B/url%5D">http://www.collegeconfidential.com/college_admissions/deferral.htm)</a>. You can also search the archives and find information there, but don't worry about that yet.
e. Most likely not, unless he/she's donated millions to the school. Usually, legacy only counts for parents and grandparents graduating from Cornell.

a. recs and test scores can show up after the date. And yes, towerpumpkin is right, even your application could show up late and it probably wouldn't matter. but yeah...it takes them 2 whole weeks just to process all the information they get in the apps.

b. laundry is expensive, big intro classes, more attractive guys than attractive girls (con for a guy...), it's very cold in the beginning of the calander year (con for those who like heat)

c. as long as you are a diligent student you will be stressed at times but OK and not eaten alive. theres still lots of room for fun at cornell.

d. towerpumpkin is on top of this shizzle

e. you could attribute youyr interest in cornell to her attendance at the university, but as towerpumpkin said, it won't explicitly boost your chances unless she's a bajillionaire and has donatied millions to the school.

g. are there intermural sports teams that arent that serious, similar to like a pick-up bball league for fun or somthing. what are the intermural sports and the most common ones people play...

Yeah I was gonna ask that as well. I love to play Basketball but I'm too lazy to get truly in shape to play basketball for an actual college team :P (Or high school for that manner)

When's the last date for SATs for ED? I came up with nothing after reading through their site (including FAQs).

How are they about FA for ED applicants? I know it's been repeated a billion times, but I have to ask... If I have any reservations about being able to pay, I shouldn't apply to Cornell, right? (I really want to though...)

I contacted Cornell and they said mid-November is fine for SATs for ED applicants, meaning if you take the October SAT they'll see the scores.

I don't know about the November SAT though; I doubt they'll see the scores in time.

They have said on their site and application FAQ that November SAT is fine for ED so as long you put them on the list of colleges to send the scores to.

there are res hall teams for all kinds of sports. not serious at all. you can also take basketball for your PE semester requirements or just play pickup games with a regular group of people from your hall and their friends from other halls.

bottom line is intramural sports are quite accessable.
