Early Decision Revoke?

I know this question may have been asked a few times, but I don't think this exact situation has happened. On Commonapp I have all the schools I want to go to and have submitted the supplements for SOME. However I made a mistake on one of the supplements and I applied early decision for Wesleyan University. I haven't paid the application fee or anything like that all I submitted was the supplement. Is there any way that I can get out of this semi-commitment IF I get in?

If you are planning to submit the rest of the application, then contact Wesleyan to straighten out the situation. It would be a lot better to handle it that way than after the fact.

Indeed. Just contact Wesleyan and say you made a mistake, and you wish to apply RD, not ED.

Thank you, but what if I don’t plan to send in the rest? Suppose I’ve changed my mind from attending completely? What can I do?

Contact Wesleyan and tell Wesleyan that you do not intend to complete your application, and ask them to close your file.

If you haven’t paid the application fee, you haven’t applied. Nothing bad is going to happen to you. You’re really just being courteous to Wesleyan telling them that you have decided not to go through with your application.

I thought that a parent and high school counselor had to sign off on the ED agreement before your application is actually submitted. At least that’s how it is for my son’s ED school. His conselor hasn’t signec off yet and his application still shows as pending. He can still access it and change it to RD at this point. See if you can too.

Thank you Sikorsky. I’ll send them an e-mail asap, after I consult with my parents. But if I were to leave it as is then nothing at all will happen right?

@Reeinaz- I’m not sure about a parent or counselor having to sign off on it but I know that on commonapp my supplement is submitted and unable to be altered.

Ah ok. The supplement allows you to say you intend to apply ED but the actual application has to be sent ED for it to be official. If you didn’t send that in indicating ED, then you should be ok. You could still email admissions and letthem know you changed your mind about applying ED. But it’s not an ED application until the application is sent and the ED agreement signed.

You have NOT applied ED. Your parents would have had to sign and your appl. fee paid. Case closed.

Thank you all
