My S wanted to apply for undergrad under ED by November 1st to Brandeis University. I have checked the net price calculator and it seems we can afford it if they give financial aid package as per the Net Price Calculator.
As per the calculator, we may have to pay around 20K and I am ready to pay even if it costs around 35K. If we are accepted with financial package over 35K, can we reject the offer based on insufficient Financial Aid? Of course, we can appeal with the college Financial aid department but if they deny to increase their offer, can we back out from the ED commitment without any issue? Has anybody faced this kind of circumstances at Brandeis?
from what i’ve heard, it would benefit the applicant to contact the college and see if any other adjustments can be made. if not, it’s okay to decline. while you do sign some sort of affidavit (i think?), if you cant afford it, the administration cannot force you to attend.
Thank you very much for your response! In general, how accurate the net price calculators are?
I don’t know about Brandeis, but overall they were pretty accurate for my first child, as long as you are on a payroll and not self-employed.
