Hey,

I would like to know before I actually do apply, does Cornell ED bolster your chances of being admitted or does it hurt your chances?? Is the ED applicant pool more competitive than that of RD?

I've heard replies from both sides of the spectrum. But specifically for Cornell, I hear that ED will most likely improve one's odds. If it doesn't, I might as well apply for regular decision.

Anyone who's had experience with Cornell's admissions process, please let me know!

Thank you.

I was just there yesterday, visiting the campus.
I attended two information sessions: for the college of Arts and Sciences and the college of Engineering.
Which college are you planning on applying to?
At the information session for the College of Arts and Sciences, the admissions lady said that there is a slightly higher admission rate for ED than for RD. In the mid 20% for ED and mid 10% for RD.

I’m applying to the College of Arts and Sciences. Do you know if the ED applicant pool is more competitive though?

I honestly don’t know.
But I can say that we were told during the info session that most of the people who apply early decision KNOW that Cornell is their number one choice.
So the applicant pool for ED consists of the students who REALLY want it.
I guess just keep that in mind.
