Just a heads up guys, the registration for us incoming freshman for EFS is now open. I'm not sure how fast it fills up but I already picked my class and registered!

1205 just for one course? Yeah screw that.

It’s a cheaper per credit cost then normal classes. Yeah, it’s expensive. Welcome to college, I guess.

oh yeah i guess i was thinking you pay and take that course, then take 3 addional courses for autumn quarter, but i guess if you take that and then just take 2 courses autumn quarter its a good deal.

How is it cheaper per credit?

If you’re thinking about the writing EFS class, I think those fill up pretty quickly.

Well keep in mind, if you choose to live at the UW during EFS, it will cost more…

What is an interesting yet not too difficult EFS class you would suggest?

Quick question about Summer A&O session. I know we have the option of staying overnight for 1-3 days. I am definitely going to sign up for at least 1 night, how about you guys? Anyone doing 2-3 days? Any recommendations? And are the Outdoor adventure activities worth the money? Any good experiences?

Also, how is Dawg Days, to any current UW students?

@momomomo The breakdown per credit at UW is about like ~$400/credit I believe, there’s a breakdown on their website.

@ilikeUW The outdoor adventures sounded cool to me, but you have to take a later orientation day so I decided against it. Plus, living around the area, I’ve been to the places they’re going too. It kinda sounds like a lot of leadership/team-building games, which I’ve done plenty of in high school. It’s probably a good way to bond with fellow freshman, though.

Registered for my EFS class too! Also I heard a lot of positive feedback about EFS from past students.

Ditto. I think it’s a great way to get familiar with the UW and make friends; you’re essentially going to be hanging out with your classmates for a month…especially since all the out-of-staters won’t know anyone really, it should be very easy to be social.

Exactly how much more does it cost to do EFS?

It’s like $1200 for the class alone, if you need housing then I think it’s an additional ~$800 or so.

You wouldn’t be necessarily be spending more for the class though right? Because in the fall you would be taking 1 class less? But housing… that’s definitely going to cost more.

That’s a valid point, yeah, but if you’re getting financial aid then you have to take 15 credits/quarter. At least for the Husky Promise you do, I’m fairly certain any grant requires the same. I suppose in theory it could afford you an easier first quarter/year though.

wait does husky promise cover an efs class? Cause I’m husky promise and I’m def down for some free education.

“Free” in the sense you’ll have less to spend on other stuff, yeah. I paid for it via financial aid grants. But it’s not really free since that money could be spent on food, etc.
