Hi. I'm going to be starting my sophomore year of high school in about a month. I'm also currently taking classes at community college. I have it set up so that when I graduate from high school with a diploma, I will have all of the college credits that I need to transfer to a university with junior standing. When I apply to to colleges, I will be applying as a transfer student, not as a high school student. I was wondering if it is necessary for me to take the SATs because of this.

I also have the option of getting dual credit for my college classes so that I will graduate from high school after junior year and skip a year of high school altogether. I'm not sure what I want to do yet but any thoughts or advice would be helpful. Thanks.

If you complete an A.A. program, many colleges/universities will consider you a transfer applicant. Some might be able to consider you a freshman applicant since you will have completed the AA and the HS diploma program simultaneously. If your program is pretty common at your HS, your guidance counselors will be able to tell you which colleges/universities automatically put you into one category or the other, and whether or not you need an ACT/SAT exam. If not many students do what you are doing, you will need to work with the transfer counselors at your CC, and you will also have to research the admissions policies of each of the colleges/universities that you want to apply to.

You may want to take your questions to the Transfer Forum, and/or to the Parents Forum. You will find people with more experience with your issues in those two places.
