Nothing very quantitative yet, of course. The following quote is from an e-mail from an Adcom to a parent, which they (the parent) were nice enough to share with me. Obviously I am only going to quote the very general statement so as to maintain privacy and not be unethical.

[quote]
We are up 10% in applications, and the quality has been much stronger than last year.

So if that keeps up, it will be another record year for number of apps (44,000 give or take) and the potential, at least, for the strongest class yet, which so far was the class of 2012, based on test stats alone I guess. Obviously it is not a very quantifiable thing in the end, and the class of 2013 was nearly identical. I think 2013 had a higher percentage that were in the top 10% of their class. Doesn't make much sense to slice it too finely, the clear point is that Tulane is being recognized as a viable destination for those students who either don't quite have the stats to get into the ultra-selective schools, or are looking for a different experience. And there ain't nuttin' wrong with either of those for Tulane. I also suspect that the word is getting around about the generous merit money, the publicity from President Cowen's recent (and well deserved!) awards and recognition, and the improvements in the Honors Program for those students looking for an even more intellectual experience. Just my take on it, nothing scientific (horrors!).
