So--what are people's thoughts about Tulane in light of Hurricane Katrina? Are y'all still applying? How will the pool be this year in terms of competition?

AND

Does anyone know what people usually do for the Dean's Honor Scholarship? (It's a project, for a shot at full tuition).

If anything, applications will have a big increase, not decrease. I mean, it's in the news big time. I suspect a significant jump in applications.

The applications will increase for several reasons:

Easiest free application

Early acceptance ; instant gratification

Borderline students view it is an opportunity to go to a top 50 school

Mid to upper level applicants view it as an opportunity for merit scholarships

They have been aggressively recruiting students via mail, spam and regular reminders to apply "right now with no essay"

How many accepted students will actually attend? Who knows? Depends if they can rebuild the school and retain both students and profs.

I agree. I mean I've been tempted to apply even though I've never wanted to go just because I get so much advertising from them. And the thing is, by next year when we're off at college, it will be back to how it was most likely, as it was barely hit in comparism to other places.
