Early vs. Regular Chances? DESPERATE FOR HELP

I absolutely love everything about Vanderbilt and I know that even if I were to get into better schools, I would choose Vandy. That being said, I was considering applying early decision but at the same time don't want to close myself off to other options. I've done this before but was not very thorough and I now have more accurate information to share. Can someone please chance me for both EARLY and REGULAR decision. THankyouu! I'll return the favor.

Not applying for financial aid
Essays should be strong and creative, my school has a class devoted entirely to college essay writing and writing is one of my strong suits.

ED is a definite plus. I have two children at Vandy. We are from the same geographic region as you and they are also URM’s. One child had slightly better stats and applied regular decision the other had slightly lesser stats and applied ED. Obviously they both got in. Your stats look good and I think you would have a very good chance on regular decision. I would only recommend ED if you are certain Vandy is the place for you. You also said you are not applying for financial aid. This will have no bearing on your aplication one way or the other. I would recommend filling out the FASFA anyway. As a plug for Vandy, both my children tell me that they love the school and are extremly happy with their decision. Best of Luck and your resume is great!

I just graduated from there. You’re a good candidate for Vanderbilt.

Don’t be afraid to apply ED. You can apply Regular Decision at other schools; they only discourage you from applying ED at other schools. You can accept Vanderbilt’s offer of admission and still change your mind about going later on if you want (May 1st is the national decision day for colleges). It’s really the housing deposit that solidifies your spot at Vanderbilt for the fall.

applying ED at Vandy is a binding decision and there is no policy that allows their ED student body to apply to RD if accepted in EDI or EDII. whether or not they allow people to exit in special circumstances…I can’t comment on that.

Schools who accept your RD application assume you are not in an ED school commitment. That is another ball of wax entirely that is only kosher in certain situations where you are allowed to do Early Action and then pursue other admissions offers.

ED I and ED II are binding. You and your guidence counselor advise the school that you are applying only to that school ED. You may apply to as many RD schools as you want, but if accepted to your ED school you are expected to withdraw all other applications. There are special circumstances that allow a person to withdraw the ED. The above is true for all ED’s. Early Action is non-binding but not offered by most of the top schools.

class rank good, need better board scores for ED and definately for RD, without a hook, RD needs 33/1400, maybe less for ED. I alumni interview for Vandy, had some great people get rejected last year
