Earnings Statement?

Hi everyone,

I'm having a hard time finding my earnings statement for workstudy. I got my paycheck a few days ago, and noticed that the amount of money deposited into my bank account was lower than I expected it to be - I suspect I may have been taxed. Are full-time students on workstudy subject to taxation? Where can I find my earnings statement for workstudy?

Yup, you do get taxed on your workstudy earnings. You can change the tax withholding level & check your earnings statement @ At Your Service Online ([University of California Human Resources and Benefits - At Your Service](http://atyourservice.ucop.edu/)).

You can find both under Income & Taxes.

Thanks Calicious! When did full-time workstudy students start getting federally taxed? I don’t recall my sister (who went to UCB ~4 yrs ago) getting taxed when she did workstudy. x.x

No probs – It has never crossed my mind that workstudy would be invulnerable from being taxed. However, I know for a fact that earnings from WS would not affect your next year’s FAFSA.

I’m not really tax-savy so maybe someone else could answer that question (I’m quite curious too since a lot of students usually ask me that question)! Also you can print an electronic W2 form on At Your Service as well (print it out, ask your parents to file it for you/or do it yourself).

Yes you get taxed. I got a refund for last year.

^ How’d you get a refund?

You file for tax return (talk to your parents). That’s when the W2 form comes into play.
