Thanks for the additions ksarmand and DC. My area is really casual so at jobs that aren’t in an office setting, I have seen everything (except obscene tattoos, but it’s only a matter of time).

My job (supermarket) is pretty lax. No ‘extreme’ hairstyles or tattoos and that’s about it. It’s a Whole Foods for cryin’ out loud :P

It’s usually no piercings on males and only one piercing on women at work from my experience in stores at the mall.

^Billy

Did someone mention my righty-piercing?

Most white collar workers in DC seem to be clean-shaven except for mustaches usually. And no piercings.

But that’s DC for ya… I’d much rather the environment of California where you can dress up as much or as little as you want.

^^Correct me if I’m wrong, but hasn’t a right ear only earring on a male been used to signify homosexuality?

Wikipedia: “The left ear was reserved for piercing by straight men and a pierced right ear meant that one was gay.” However, it does continue: “Recent consensus is that no ear is currently associated with sexual orientation.” So it seems I was pulling my cultural meanings from the '60s, sorry.

^No that’s a common statement lol, that’s why I’ve only pierced the right ear.

I don’t like piercings on men at all, I feel like they look juvenile. However, one earring looks juvenile-- TWO looks ridiculous. If you want to get them done, just get one.

if youre going to get gauges, get both…if not meh, one…

both. trust me I pierce ears for my job. do both. and if you must do one, left is right and right is wrong. but please do both haha

Hoops aren’t the best idea. And gauges are sweet as long as they aren’t above a 0 or 00.

Do. not. get a hoop
I’m telling you this because I care

Gauges are disgusting.

Well I think part of the reason my friend still has success with the ladies is cos his gauges aren’t very big at all.

I must say, I find they look better on guys than girls, however, if it is big enough to make your ear sag when you take it out, that is absolutely disgusting. Nor would I date a girl with a gauge, or like 10 ear piercings for that matter, they find new places all the time.

do both man, you’re in college if you don’t get them pierced now you never will. Just take them out in a couple years when you get to the “real world”

on a side note do pierced ears fly in MBA programs, Law school, med school? or am i going to have to take them out in a couple years?

RE: The right side ear piercing…is it our right or his right?

lol, his gauges are pretty small. You can put a toothpick in with a small amount of wiggle room, that’s about it.

That’s probably it

Studs or small gauges are fashionable. You can always getting both ears pierced and if you don’t like it, it can always close back up.
