I have a question...In one of my other questions on CC someone wrote that it is easier for East Coast kids to get into Stanford than it would be for other hopefuls. Is that true? I know it probably isn't too much easier but, who knows, location could be what gets me accepted. I believe I have the academic and extra curicular record, I am just very curious. Thank you in advance.

Stanford gets apps from the whole world. They want geographic diversity but they aren’t hurting for apps from the East Coast. Sorry – no gain for you. Wyoming? Appalachia? Deep south? Sure. East Coast? Nope – unless it’s Daufuskie Island, SC.

I know about Pomona, not Stanford, but they probably have similar opinions on this issue. I think being from the East Coast could help you - but not if you’re from NYC, DC, or Boston.
