At this point, almost every school in Rhode Island has canceled school for tomorrow. Not sure about Tuesday yet, but it is looking likely that Tuesday will also be a rain day. #thanksSandy

School canceled tomorrow!!!

@SerenityJade, yeah pretty much. They say high winds, so that might get us like a 2 hour delay. I can`t imagine them wanting buses to be out in 60 MPH winds going down steep roads.

Not a school closing, but I get out at 11.

Well, an update. A whole bunch of VA counties, mine included, have a high wind warning in effect until 12:00 AM Wednesday, some counties have winter storm warnings, and some have blizzard warnings. And then there are those who have no school.

Oh well.

I live in PA, and my school called around 9:00 AM today telling us we have no school Monday or Tuesday! I’m happy because I can sleep in, but my teachers have been emailing us since Friday telling us all the work we have to do since we’re off. I literally have hours of extra homework now.

Oh and all of the public school districts in my area are called off for tomorrow, and my city shut down all public transportation, and the city itself is shut down for tomorrow until the storm is over. But the worst of it in my area is supposed to be on Tuesday, so schools will probably be closed on Wednesday also.

I already have off Thursday because I go to catholic school, so I have the potential to have only one day of school this week!

I had no school Friday and a half-day Thursday because of hurricane sandy <3
& it didn’t even hit us

^Are you in PBC by any chance? (I am.)

yes. that was weird I just asked if you were in pbc on another thread.
lol It barely even rained it was so sad

I know, I just responded, lol.

We went to the beach. It’s funny how last time we were under a tornado watch and 8 other warnings/watches, but they didn’t cancel it until the last min, but this time we had 2 or 3 and they cancelled it early. It was kind of bad. 7:30 Friday morning was the worst. It sounded like a tornado was coming. Even my dad thought so (He’s from IA, so it takes a LOT for him to suspect that).

Man, ya’ll won’t be seeing what I saw when I was down in Florida for vacation when hurricane Charles came. It was a category 4 (2-3 by the time it reached Orlando). NO our windows did not break, only one tree fell. But Florida is adapted to hurricane. Near the beginning of the summer, that other storm didn’t hit with the same power, but here come sandy from the Bikini Bottom.

I wonder is this a new seasonal trend? East Coast getting hit more then the gulf region by stronger hurricanes?

EVERY SINGLE FREAKIN’ NYC SCHOOL IS CLOSED. Tuesday’s on probation.
My school district is closed, and my sister’s (private) middle school is closed. But my bro’s isn’t. Come h*ll or high water (literally) they will NOT cancel school. It’s a bit alarming.
Last time, 90% of the homes didn’t have power but the schools did- so they made there be school just to keep us all warm (it was FREEZING!).

The first school anywhere near us closed, and it
s about 2 hours away, so it gives me some hope, because they have the same weather conditions as we do. 2 other schools have 2 hour delays. There
s still some hope left.

Finally schools are closed in my area, it was announced around 7:45.

I’m from southeastern PA, right outside of Philadelphia, and my school has canceled classes until Tuesday. This is only the second time I can remember my school closing due to weather. The Archdiocese of Philadelphia doesn’t really lose its schools. Also, the whole city of Philadelphia and SEPTA have shut down until the storm ends

Yea, north DC suburbs-Maryland, we have no school on monday or tuesday

Right now, I’m relying on the fact that I don’t have school unless there’s public transportation and bridges. Considering that the storm’s supposed to be harsh, I’m hoping for a Monday-Tuesday cancellation.
