East Coast parent feeling the blues: no Trojan football tomorrow

OK: confession time, until my son joined the class of 2016 I had NEVER seen a college football game, and I don't watch professional football either, except for the Super Bowl. Knowing the reputation of the Trojans and the importance of football to the school, I decided I would watch the first game- just to see what all the hype is about. You know whats coming: of course I was totally hooked. So far I managed to find all of the games on TV...and couldn't wait for tomorrow to see if they win after last week's loss. Now I find out its on the Pac-12 Network, not carried by Verizon Fios. Boy am I bummed. And its a home game too...

And yes, I did buy tickets for parents weekend. I'm hoping more of the games will be on a network I have access to. It's addicting! Fight on!

Thanks for sharing, maddenmd. I confess that I, too, have become a Trojan football fan. I was born and raised in a football minded city and love my Steelers. Troy Polamalu is my favorite player and he was a Trojan  I guess I won’t be watching the game today either since we have Verizon Fios, as well :frowning: I can’t wait to experience the game on family weekend!

maddenmd, be sure to check with the alumni organization in your area to find out about viewing parties – usually at a fun bar. (Parents are always welcomed, and it’s fun fun fun to cheer with your Trojan family). I don’t know how close you are to DC, but I found this one on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/dctrojans/</a></p>

Heed the following advice at your own risk:

firstrowsports.eu is my choice, but as people mentioned DO NOT click on pop ups. In the beginning, if the picture is blocked out for a 30 sec ad, let it run its course. it will give you an “x” to click out of it…

Also, watch it on FULL SCREEN. you wont get as many screen blocking pop ups that way.

[AtdheNet.TV - Watch Free Live Sports TV](http://www.atdhenet.tv) will also have the game I believe.

Thanks all for the responses: both here and in PM. Revised plans for the evening: hook up the lap top to the TV and Fight on!

I’m in CA and still can’t see PAC-12 games! We used to get so many great match-ups prior to the PAC-12 network. U-verse doesn’t carry it, but we do get the Big 10 network, Texas network, every dang irrelevant non AQ game possible (and on multiple channels-- really??). Only game we get to see on tv is the UCLA game-- oh joy.

maddenmd, I am just like you…suddenly following a football team! It’s fun. If you don’t already read the Daily Trojan online, I recommend it for keeping up with the team throughout the week. Even better is the LA Times, which you can also read online, for their daily coverage of the team. I never thought I’d type these words, but I guess we are lucky to have Time-Warner–and see all the games.

Fight on.

We live in the Midwest and have Directv and it does not carry the PAC-12 either. Directv wants to offer it as an add-on and PAC-12 is insisting that Directv give it (translate pay for it) to all subscribers. Before my D joined class of 2016, I didn’t care about college FB (only pro football hence the Directv NFL package since 2003). I stand by Directv - PAC-12 channel should be a paid add on for those who care and not charged to everyone.

I did find a creative answer to wathcing the game today however. Since we own a condo in CA and pay for Time Warner there, I was able to stream off the PAC-12 website (hooked to the TV), using my Time Warner account to log in. The only problem is that originally I tried to do it off the PS3 but the PS3 doesn’t run Java script which is required so had to drag over a desk top computer. So much work just to watch the game. Glad they won!

That was a fun game to watch. Go Trojans! I got to watch the game thanks to the links from all of you, and from the computer to the TV. Thanks for the support, Trojan family. Fight on!

Pac-12 Networks needs to drop the stupid regional networks and just have one or two national feed networks like the Big Ten. NFL teams don’t even have their own networks! Pac-12 misjudged the demand. National providers like DirecTV, Verizon FIOS, and AT&T UVerse are not gonna add 1 national and 6 regional HD networks to its lineup all carrying basically the same material.

The game stunk anyways! You could just show a repeat of the last two years. Tedford and AD Sandy Barbour has to go! Absolutely zero passion…highest paid UC employee sitting comfortably behind a fat contract. Steps down from soap box

Watching the game on Saturday was just TORTURE!!!
Our cable provider does not carry Pac-12 in HD so it was almost like watching streaming video on a very small portion of our big screen. I guess I have been spoiled watching the games the past few weeks on the Fox Network :(

True, MDMom. I thought the play-by-play was pretty lame, too. And the lack of cameras/angles/replays! The directing! Spoiled by FOX and ESPN, I fear.

My son was texting me the highlights!

Also, I found the USC student radio station (KXSC) broadcast on TuneIn Radio phone app.

I am just happy they won and had a great running game develop as well as a solid defense. Comcast carried the game in NorCal (Ch. 823).

Agree with above, my husband and I both thought the camera work was sub-par. It seemed choppy and erratic. Also, there were several times where the cameraman was confused as to who had the ball and we were watching action somewhere else on the field. I don’t know why the PAC-12 thinks the whole nation wants to watch their programming. Other than football, I wouldn’t turn on the station (unless I had a kid playing a sport they were showing).

^ I agree. Watching that game at times I thought I was up in my visitor section seats. The Pac-12 needs to polish its product. They didn’t have the floating aerial wire cams like ESPN does.
