Now let me see: are we to infer that the admit rate for autumn bickerers is lower because these are upper class applicants whose undesirability was previously demonstrated when they were rejected last spring?

It sounds as though Fall Bicker is a "repassage", as it were, not unlike Early Decision rejectees applying elsewhere Regular Decision, when the admit rate is demonstrably lower.

The admit rate is lower because by fall the clubs have less room for new members. They are limited by the size of their kitchen and dining room. Some people who bicker in the fall are those who did not get in in the spring but others were unavailable for bicker, for one reason or another (off campus for a game, for example).

Surely, members-only parties are similar across the board, at both bickers and sign-ins. All I mean by suggesting that the bickers have better parties is, how often do sign-ins throw lingerie night with champagne? Two-piece night with jello shooters? (sad how most of these special nights relate to skimpiness) The pass system, albeit a pathetic attempt at exclusion, does serve to bolster the image of bicker clubs, and allow exclusivity.

On another note...how come the sign-ins, rather than the bickers, always get the sweet music gigs? Like vanilla ice, and rihanna?
