Hi,
One of my best ECs has been my business which has generated over $1million in revenue. I currently act as its CEO. I did co-found the company but I don't really have to do anything nowadays. I only sit back and watch my underlings do all the work while I study for my A-Levels.

I heard that without an active participation, an impressive EC might be useless. So my question is : To improve my admission chances to a top US University, should I take on another job where I will have an 'actual job' to do or can I keep relaxing with my CEO position?

P.S I already have volunteer hours and other well diversified ECs. I intend to apply ED Cornell AEM

If you have the capacity, pursue other things. Broaden your horizons. It doesn’t have to be a job. Is there an org that interests you? Can you lend guidance to any of the vol orgs you’ve helped previously?

I think you should be concerned that you look like you’re just collecting a paycheck and “just relaxing” – and that’s not a good thing.

Madaboutx> Being fair to myself, luck was on my side when initially doing business. Moreover, I am not such a good student (sat first try around 1950; practise test now show around 2100).

T26E4> I am currently funding several volunteer organizations. I was thinking of maybe personally voluntering for teaching poor kids? Would that make me look better ?

This is stupid. The op is good at what he does and he does it well. Why does he have to “volunteer” to make him a better person. I’m sure there are tons of people on CC who do insincere community service all the time. Why not be honest about it and just say it doesn’t interest you? To OP: Just talk about what you do, why you do it, and why it’s important to you. It would help to talk about how you would use college to help you do what you already do better.
