EC and Research Supplement

Two quick questions:

  1. I was under the impression that all ECs had to be MIT graduates? Asking because from what I can see my EC has no affiliation with the university
  2. For the research supplement, do most people submit their whole research paper or just the abstract? My paper is pretty long (20+ pages double spaced) so I doubt any admissions officer would read it.
  1. Do you know that? i.e. did your EC tell you that he has never attended MIT as a student?

For the research supplement, I believe you only submit the abstract, or introduction paragraph. At least that’s the way it works for Columbia. Maybe @MITChris or @MITer94 can back me up on this?

@csumit that would make sense, but someone else should answer that question. I did not submit an abstract or paper when applying to MIT.

I know people that have done both, but do they keep reading past the abstract if you submit the whole paper?

Also: When I submit my recommendation letter from my research advisor on slideroom with the supplement, should I also submit it on the optional rec letters section of the recommendation site?
