Does the whole “well-rounded” thing apply anymore?

My ECs include:
Mock trial
Physics Olympics
Science Olympiad
Science Club
Building with Books (not literally, we raise money to build schools in third-world countries)

You can probably tell that I am pretty science-oriented. Is it bad to concentrate on one area? I’ve also heard that colleges are swaying towards the kids with distinct interests versus the “do everything” kids… is this true?

well rounded student body, not just well rounded students. so yes, they dont really need well rounded students as much as students who do orient themselves into one area of their hobbies. your ec's look good. talk about it in you essay, make yourself stand out.

they want well lopsided people and well rounded... but wynwood isn't like some powerhouse science olympiad team from there? I wrote about going to National science olympiad and getting gold medals at states for my ECs cause thats the only thing I ever did that was national so I wanted to bring it out

Faux: Wynnewood is in the Lower Merion school district in Pennsylvania. Lower Merion school district includes two high schools: Lower Merion hs and Harriton hs. I go to Harriton. It's got a pretty good rep for winning nationals for science olympiad... although I think most olympiad high schools hate us...

yeah but you harriton kids are really wierd... so I'd rather not go to nat'ls every year than be real wierd. Your astronomy kids who were like twins a couple years ago Jesus and Francois... anyway, you should bring that out if you are on the thing.
