On the Common Application, would it be appropriate to list
two very rigorous internships under jobs rather than ec's.?
Must jobs involve payment or would internships be OK?

Thanks,

I would consider an internship a job, but to be sure, call and check with the specific colleges.

I think it would be appropriate. But I'm not 100% sure.

A piece of work, especially a specific task done as part of the routine of one's occupation or for an agreed price. (dictionary.com)

In other words...

Paid: Job
Unpaid: EC

I wouldn't get too worked up about it, as wherever you put it, it will be on the application anyway. I would agree with the post above though.

How would you classify Summerbridge? An internship that pays. I was thinking it is both a job and an EC.

Probably under job, but either one you choose won't hurt you

If these internships are particularly important to you, and you feel that understanding them would help an admissions officer get an accurate picture of who you are, you might want to consider writing your short essay (the one about an activity) about them.

Don't leave out any blank in your application, so if you already have something under EC then list the internship under job.
