ecc's in college

i called Columbia the other day if they have any programs about medicine available during the summer for entering freshman students.. they said they are not accepting high school students for now...what can i do during my freshman year and the summer of freshman year (activities?)...
also how many and what kind of classes should i take in my first year?

The summer before college isn't a big deal. Later on you'll need to find stuff to do: clinical exposure, volunteering, or research, or some combination thereof.

Take a normal courseload at your school. See thread: "Coursework" for details about the premedical curriculum.

Seriously, enjoy the summer before college as much as you can. It's the last time to have such uninterrupted time with your HS friends. I mean, I loved college way more than HS, but that last summer was really the last time I actually truly hung out with some people I graduated with.
