If you received an Echols scholar phone call from a student volunteer last month (my S is ED), does that mean that you are one of the 600 that will be offered the program? Thanks.

I would assume so. Did he receive the letter?

No, he did not - would ED Echols letters have gone out before RD Echols letters?

Actually, if he's ED, he wouldn't have received the likely letter, since he's already going to UVA. He's obviously in consideration for Echols status. ED and RD Echols people are notified at the same time.

Thanks so much for your help, Cav!

just received Echols letter today. Yay!!! See you guys April 7th

crap i didn't get one!!! ahhh (freaking out) i will be WAITING for the mail tomorrow

Afrikaan did you get that in the mail? thats sweet congrats!

Thanks. Yes I got it in the mail. It was postmarked march 15.

I got Echols :)

Stats for the Juniors:

GPA 99% weighted, 2340 SAT (740 W), 800 US History, 750 IIC, 720 Lit, 5 AP US. No national recognition, just leadership roles in ECs I liked. Come from rural area.

Congrats to all!

Did you receive just an invite to Echols or is in an entire acceptance packet? Any financial aid info included?

We're instate, and my son received the Echols letter today. It was written 3/15 and postmarked 3/17. It had info regarding the schedule of events on 4/7. He was already accepted ED, but the letter was written as if he was a RD applicant. It said to expect an acceptance package in a couple of weeks.

I'm in-state and haven't received any mail from UVA yet. Does that mean I wasn't awarded Echol's?

Our mail, especially on Saturday, can be very unpredictable. My son's letter was postmarked the 17th, so it got here in one day. Even instate, it can take a few days for a letter to arrive, depending on where you live.

My D received an Echols letter today also. We are in state and she applied RD. The letter is both an admission and an invitation to Echols. The letter says the admission packet will be sent in about two weeks.

Oh man...I'm nervous now. Do you guys who received Echols letters already live near Charlottesville?

I'm Echols! Yay! Stats: Instate, 2300 SAT combined tops, really outstanding extracurriculars, 3.9 GPA on 4.0 scale with weighted for APs and Honors, essays about international community service. Hot Dog:) Also... It was postmark March 17, and I live close to Charlottesville, so don't freak out quite yet.

Yike yike yike, hopefully that's the case westbeach28!

Anyone get news of the Rodmans?

Yes! in Florida; GO HOOS! ;)
