hey, so i've spent quite a bit of time perusing the schedule and i've noticed that econ100a and 101a are both filled up (i wanted to take 101a :) and 100b only has 18 seats left with over a month to go till we can register...just wondering what your thoughts are on this since one of these classes is needed to declare econ as your major...and by spaces i'm looking at discussions, not lectures...since the class is worthless w/o being enrolled in a discussion as well...

You want to take the 101 series over the 100? What post-college goals do you have in mind?

goals aren’t the reason, i want to take 101 over 100 simply because i like math lol

That’s cool. I was just asking, because I was not sure what kind of student would take the 10 series. Hopefully they open up for you :P

yeah, but even if they don’t, i’m worried about the plain 100 series…only 18 seats…surely there are many more transfers than that lol :

we dont need to declare our major in our first semester right? like i can take the stats class the first semester and take the econ 100A the next and then apply for econ no?

All new transfer students are required to apply to the Economics Major their first semester. This means that you must complete or be enrolled in all of the prerequisites during your first term, and fill out the application form before the end of the fourth week of class. The application deadline for Spring Semester is February 12, 2010 at 4pm. For most transfer students, this means enrolling in Statistics 20, 21, 25, or an upper division statistics course, as well as enrolling in Economics 100A, 101A or 100B. You will fill the remainder of your schedule with courses to fulfill graduation requirements, start progress on a minor, or courses for a backup major.

well dam that sucks… anyone know which of the prereqs is the easiest?

Ugh, I was worried about this. I wanted to take 101A too =/.

Hi, how come i didn’t see economics 101A/B on the summer schedule list?

theres no way they’d be able to fit all the material for the 101 series in the summer. Theres simply too much math.

Does anyone know we should register for summer class in berkely by using online application or telebear?

Yeah i guess they are mostly the same
