How difficult is it for a non-business major to get into business courses? D is weighing an econ or econ/math double major in LAS against a finance major in the college of business. She's leaning toward econ, but doesn't want to forego the opportunity to take some accounting or finance courses. At the other schools she's looking at, econ is either part of the business school or it's easy to take courses in both schools.

It is not difficult as long as she can fit it into whatever schedule she will have as an economics major (of course, if she double majors in econ and math it could become difficult to also take several business courses on top of everything else needed); it is also not difficult to pursue a minor in business when majoring in economics. The business school, though difficult to transfer into once at UIUC to major in business, is quite generous in allowing students from the other colleges to minor in business.
