I'm currently an undergraduate at UC Berkeley. Right now I am on a pre-Haas track but I'm wondering what will happen to me if I don't get in. I have econ major as my back up but do u guys know if econ majors at UC Berkeley will be able to get good business jobs (consulting, analyst, etc) after graduating?

My one concern is that the Haas students will overshadow econ majors and take the good jobs first. If I don't make it into Haas, should I double major in econ and statistics/math to stand out more?

^ I’ve checked out that site many times, but I’ve noticed a few discrepancies that makes me worried. First of all, I heard that many Haas majors also double up with econ and it is true from meeting some people from business frats. Second of all, I am more concerned with the number that respond and the number that are actually employed; about 60% of the graduates respond and only 60% of them are employed. This is a discrepancy compared to the Haas graduates who have the same response rate, but 80% employment rate.

So I’m not sure what to make out of these statistics. But, they could possibly not accurately represent the job prospects for econ majors.

Haas students will definitely overshadow you, but if you have an exceptional GPA and involvement, you could still manage to snag one of their jobs.
