Wellesley’s econ is known for being particularly strong. Is USC (socal not carolina) really that bad? What about research opportunities, internships, and (most importantly to me) grad school and career placement?
What makes you say usc is so bad?
The party reputation, the large number of students, and the location. @philbegas
I should clarify: bad for me, as someone who isn’t a fan of the three abovementioned factors.
USC is an excellent school. Whether it’s the right school for you is a completely different question.
Many big schools with popular athletics have “party school” reputations. USC is a selective university with high-achieving students, so there will plenty of intellectual, intelligent, ambitious students there - just students who also like to have fun and party as well. The location in LA probably contributes to that viewpoint.
Similarly, some students may love the ~18,000 students at USC, and some students would loathe that and prefer a smaller environment or a small LAC. And some students may love the sunny weather and laid-back West Coast vibe of LA, while others prefer the four seasons and vibrant energy of Boston. It’s really up to you.
It sounds like you prefer Wellesley. Why are you wavering?
ETA: After looking at the OP’s other posts, it appears the reason she’s having a hard time is because she was offered a Presidential scholarship at USC, which is half-tuition. Wellesley would cost her twice as much.
