econ or financial engg or finance with maths

hi all
i am really interested in i banking and wanted to know which degree out of these would be best
1) computer sc. with econ minor
2) double major in econ and maths
3) double major in finance and maths
4) financial engineering with econ minor
5) industrial engg with econ minor

thanks

double major in econ and math

Yep, double major in econ and math. Double major in finance and math would be the next strongest.

why is econ and math stronger than finance and math? I'm curious because i'll be starting college soon and have the option of doing either econ + math or finance + math...im currently leaning toward finance + math because finance seems more practical, as opposed to econ which i think is too theoretical....I'm interested in working in a quantitative role, such as derivatives pricing, trading etc, and I'm also interested in graduate programs in financial engineering/mathematical finance...given these interests, wouldn't finance + math be a better option......

to the OP, if you're interested in non-quantitative areas of IB, such as M&A etc, it wont matter all that much what your major is....investment banks recruit all sorts of majors...you should be fine with either of your listed choices...what matters is getting a high GPA from a target school and doing well on the interview...quant jobs are a different story though

I think it also depends on the school, whether the business school is stronger than economics department, etc.

but some colleges give a b.s. in economics with a finance concentration . so wouldnt it be best to do that with maths ?

I think you're putting a little too much weight on importance of which major you select. Any of those will put you on the right track, the rest is preference and up to you.
