Econ/Political Science Major at Amherst?

I am a rising junior in high school, just beginning the college process. Amherst is one of the first colleges I’ve looked at, and from what I’ve seen, it seems like a school I would definitely consider. However, I would like more information on their economics and political science departments since I couldn’t find much on their website. If anyone has any experience with either of these departments, please share!

Thanks!

Since no one has responded, I’ll try to answer some of your questions. I’m not a current student at Amherst, but often times, students’ questions about departments are general enough that people from other colleges can answer them, especially with regard to economics so feel free to ask me and I’ll try to answer.

My s is going to visit, we’ll ask about Econ anyway, so will let you know what is said.

Amherst’s economics department has been analyzed based on faculty publishing : “Top 25% US Economics Departments at Liberal Arts Colleges.” Amherst is ranked a respectable 18th.

The Top Five

  2. Wellesley
  3. Middlebury
