I'm a senior in high school, and I don't have much to do this summer. I'll either be attending Stanford or UChicago this coming fall, majoring in economics.

Basically, since I live like 30 minutes from campus, I was wondering if anyone knows how to get a position to do summer research with a professor/assistant professor/anyone. I want to do something related to microeconomics since I have some background after reading textbooks.

Before I get bashed on this thread about how I should get "laid" this summer and just chill (as my close friends have put it) - no need to worry - I'm just looking to do something maybe a few days a week...just for the love of academic pursuit.

Should I contact a professor, or how do I got about?

yeah, just contact a professor whose research suits your interest. here’s a rather exhaustive list of econ faculty, and you can click on their names to read a little bit about their research:
[Duke University | Economics: People](http://econ.duke.edu/people?subpage=unit&Gurl=%2Faas%2FEconomics)

keep in mind, though, that as we’re only a few weeks away from the end of the semester a lot of professors have already established their research assistants for the summer, and undergrads will be given higher priority than high school students. but since it sounds like you’re not looking to get paid or get course credit, that could give you an edge as it’s simply easier to work with.
