Hello Guys,

I am really interested in economics, and I would like to do some summer research with a professor of economics. By the end of the year, I will have taken the AP micro and macro tests. How should I approach local professors for summer Econ research? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

There has to be someone who cares to help?

Since you’re still in high school, I think your best bet is to email professors at nearby colleges and see if they can help you. Politely introduce yourself and then respectfully ask if they know of any projects or programs that you could participate in. Even if they don’t need/want your help, they might be nice enough to provide you with another source that you could use. Of course they might just not respond (professors are awfully busy and don’t even have time to respond to their current students), but it never hurts to ask.

You could also search for programs on the Internet or ask your high school teachers, which would both probably yield better responses.

Good luck!
