Economic Majors

I want to take a poll because I am very interested in how many people actually want to study economics, and not use it just as a tool to get into law school or business school. So please state your reason for being an economics major.

I for one really want to make it my career to study Macroeconomic Theory.. (even if it means jobs will be hard to find)

I'm choosing to transfer as an economics major (currently a business major), because I'll have basically 90% of the same job opportunities as a business major, but I only need 16 more hours in economics and 14 hours in a foreign language to get my bachelors, instead of 48 more for business. I just like the freedom econ will give me.

i'm thinking of minoring in it.....i like econ for it's broad applications whether it be contemporary US or impoverished cambodia. you can apply it to many situations in life sciences/business/engineering also.....

Well I'm very interested in majoring in Econ in the aid to solve issues from urban development, public education, or third-world poverty. I'm not, however, intending on continuing on advanced Economics degrees or even searching for fields with any specific relation to it. While I'm in the arts, I feel Economics is a science that is suited for me that can strengthen my understanding and commitment to the betterment of life.

With that said, I've already started a thread search for schools that cater to this need of economics. Anyone care to recommend some?

money...........

I'm going to try and get a second major in economics even though i plan on going into medicine.
