Lets end welfare and find out who protests about it...Or, you could go into Harlem or any ghetto in a big city. Must be a nice living in your ivory tower, so I understand your reluctance to step out into the real world.

Welfare for the poor and unemployed do not account for a significant portion of social spending. Programs like Social Security and Medicare are much much much more expensive. However, it's far easier to hate mythological impoverished minority leeches, than say, your grandparents or uninsured children, so political opportunists make it seem as if welfare queens are what cause federal deficits. And people like iloveagoodbrew fall for it hook, line, and sinker.

Of course. End Social Security and Medicare too. I am against that as well. Anything else?

Ah, the Reaganist boogey(wo)man: the welfare queen. Can you actually provide any proof that such people constitute a large tax-drain on the American public?

Nope. Just making an outrageously over the top statement. Taking something to the extreme. It was a comment directed at a specific quote which was, imho, equally stupid.

I knew I would get flamed for it when I posted it.

pmrlcomm read the report.

Seriously, which one? There are many links to different articles/reports. I admit I didn't read it. Just was trying to rile some folks up.

Well, at least you're consistent.

id be for end all social programs. Its been shown by the Hudson institute that Americans citizens give more money to charity then the us govt delegates funds from tax money to social programs and foreign aid.

There is no need for govt regulated social programs.
