Economics at Emory

Hi. Well I got accepted into Emory and I think it is an excellent university, but I have not decided between Emory and Notre Dame for various reasons but I thought you can help me out. How good is the economics major? Can you do a doble major of bussiness and economics? How are the professors, the courses and everything related? I really like liberal arts colleges (thats why I am studying in the US and not in Venezuela which is so profession oriented) but I always have a clear goal in mind and that is where the major comes in. In particualr I would really like the opinion of somebody studying in Emory (of course other opinions are greatly welcome)

Thanks

I don’t know how good the economics program is considered, but the emory business school is well regarded. You can pursue a BBA and an economics major; it’s not that difficult to do so.

Emory doesn’t do to well on the economics rankings. I do not know the actuals of Emory economics, and I am sure it is quite good. However, generally Emory as a whole is perceived very well, but Emory economics doesn’t have a strong stand on its own (like UChicago does). It’s was not on some of the top 25 economics programs lists that I have read.

Not because Emory is bad at econ, but because econ is one of those fields in which every big-league university invests a lot of resources to try and have a top department.
