Economics in NYU

Hi does anyone know the difference between the economics course in Stern and the College of Arts and Science? Is one more rigorous than the other? Is the course content different? Do you get the same degrees? Is one better recognized than the other?

Thanks

I'm an econ major at CAS. Basically, if you go to the Registrar's office, and you look up econ courses for Stern, a lot of them will be cross-listed with CAS econ. The cores are about the same, only at Stern, you have to do your Stern stuff, I believe on top of your MAP requirements. Stern's probably more rigorous, but the content is not that much different. Stern gives you a BS in econ while CAS gives you a BA in econ. And obviously, to employers, the Stern name carries more prestige than CAS.

How is CAS Econ for recruiting? Can you minor in Stern? How do you like it overall? How hard is the BA/MA program to get into?
