Hey guys/gals, the title is more of a question. I am a junior nd high school and asking if it would be a good idea do major in economics and minor in a behavioral science with the possibility of doubing a double major is psychology. At the moment I am in honors pre-calculus and Ap chemistry. Next year I am debating taking A lot of math courses, anyway is this a good path for an economics major ans back to my first question are those majors and minor a good fit together?
Most colleges don’t have a minor in ‘behavioral science,’ although you could minor in psychology. And yes, economics and psychology are great complements to one another.
The behavioral science I was thinking is cognitive brain science which I didn’t really know how to classify so i called it a behavioral science.
Some colleges have a cognitive science major or minor, and that would be good to pair with economics. Most don’t, though, and the closest analog would be psychology (or you could create a student-designed major that was an amalgamation of psychology, computer science, and philosophy).
“Behavioral science” can also be classified as neuroscience, which is a lot of bio, psychology, and human anatomy/physiology. There is also psychology and “cognitive science” (which involves psychology, biology, philosophy ) .
But right now you’re like the person standing at the buffet, wanting to load up on everything. As you get into college and explore, you’ll see what’s feasible and how your interests develop. Sometimes, one major is enhanced by classes in an allied field (or other experiences,) without needing to officially major or minor in the second.
