Economics Major?

Hello everyone!
I was luckily admitted directly into UIUC’s economics program this past week! I was just wondering if this is a good path to take being that UIUC is ranked #32 in the nation for economics. Will the job outlook be good? What kind of jobs will I be able to land? I’m very interested in this field. Thank you everyone for your time!

Economics get a large variety of jobs. Jobs can range from analyzing a company’s sales increase/decrease to pinpoint how it happens, evaluating customer acquisition costs, Jobs in companies like that tend not to be the stereotypical vision of an economist. There are however some economists that work for the government or companies to write about GDP, debt, etc. making projections and analysis. Accounting and Market Research though I’m guessing are the most common jobs for economics majors.

Will I be able to land a good paying job with a degree in economics from UIUC? Also what should I minor in to make myself more marketable?

I would contact the university and ask about the undergrad Economics job placement stats.
