Would a major in economics or business, depending on the school, be a good choice for someone truly interested in IB, Hedge Fund, etc? I REALLY enjoy philosophy, but honestly not enough to major in it and I feel like the only career path would be law or teaching, both of which I am not really interested in, especially teaching. I know that philosophy teaches you to think clearly and analytically, which is obviously a good quality of someone in the IB or hedge fund fields. However, would a minor in philosophy even potentially benefit to my career choice? I am probably going to minor in it either way since this is probably one of the only opportunities in my life to study what I want, but I was just wondering if it is beneficial or not..

anyone!? 10 char

To answer your first question** "Would a major in economics or business, depending on the school, be a good choice for someone truly interested in IB, Hedge Fund, etc?" **
Yes. It will make it easier to place into the higher levels of business with a business degree. However, you can go without a business related degree and get into I-Banking depending on the school you go to. A minor in philosophy would not noticeably benefit your chances of landing a job in investment banking. The benefit would largely be for your intellectual development and not career based.

If you want to minor in something, I recommend that it be technology/computer related.

Yes, majoring in econ or business would be a good choice for someone who wants to work in IB or HF. If you truly want to minor in philosophy, go for it, do what you enjoy! It can't hurt (unless it brings down your gpa, of course).

I defintely want to minor in it...anyone have any suggestions for another minor to pursue? Besides computer technology or something similar?(Thanks for the suggestion Manny)
