Economics vs Managerial Economics

I’ve been accepted as an Economics transfer student(I’ve finished all of the pre-requisites with As except for a B in the second Calculus course, which is easier, but that’s life…). I’ve read that I can change my major to Managerial Economics after one quarter… I would like to be in the best position possible for job recruitment, so is Economics or Managerial Economics regarded higher for analyst, consulting and economic positions… and MBA programs? I want to be an analyst, consultant or economist… not an accountant, manager or HR representative.

Also, how are the honors programs and job recruitment/internships for Economics and Managerial Economics? I was born and raised in Southern California, so the thought of working in San Francisco is exciting…

Thanks!
