EC's not related to major

So I had a weird phase in high school, I was originally in the study of politics and social change. This inspired me to pursue several EC"s that worked on inspiring social change, volunteering and leading (promoting awareness, charities, etc.) however, as time has gone on, in my end of junior year/beginning of senior year, I have really found a love for the sciences (prob due to AP Chem and AP Bio), and the medical field. I understand this is a sharp change, but it is truly something that I am inspired by and wish to pursue in college.

So my question is, I have built a resume around my political and activist EC’s, but I would really like to major in biochem. Would this difference in EC’s hurt my application? would it make AO’s not take me seriously enough? Thanks for all the help

Nobody expects anyone at any age to have a single focus. I don’t think I would want to be around anyone that did have that much focus.

I think colleges expect that students have explored different areas in HS. Nothing wrong with being multifaceted and discovering interests as you go along,

My doctor’s office used to have all these activist posters up that were pretty radical like “Ban nuclear weapons”. I could see this being a plus for some schools who want to see some depth of personality.
